What will we look like?  Will there be children? Will There be old people? Will we all be the same age?

We will be ageless yet have various physical appearances of chronological ages.

As heavenly beings, we will possess both the vigor of youth and the wisdom of maturity. Agelessness is the eternal nature of existence in Heaven and the New Earth, where time, as we understand it, does not pass or affect us in the same way. All persons entering Heaven will receive a perfect physical

Agelessness and physical age are no longer defining or limiting factors in Heaven and the New Earth because there is no more death, mourning, crying, or pain; we will be ageless yet have various physical appearances of chronological ages.

In Heaven, the imperfections and limitations of our earthly bodies will no longer apply. Instead, people will experience a state of perfection, where our bodies transcend the cycles of aging, disabilities, deformities of any kind, decay, or frailty that we are familiar with on Earth.

Scripture states, “1 Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. “Revelation 21:1-4, [NIV*])

At first, there will be children and adults in appearance because there will be no chronological age as we experience now. The appearance of a child in Heaven and the New Earth will be that of the age of the child when they died.  In the case of a stillborn or aborted baby, they will be that of a newborn. The child will mature physically and spiritually until reaching their individual age of perfection.  Every person will have a different age appearance depending on their individual physical maturing.  Some may appear to be in their 20s, 30’s, etc. This is because we all are individuals and remain so in heaven.

For example, when a mother dies and enters heaven, she will still have the same relationship of mother-daughter or mother-son of the child who died earlier and is waiting for her.  In heaven, parents will have restored the love and joy that they never were able to experience, watching their child grow up and mature to the age of perfection and do so in an environment of perfect peace, joy, and righteousness of heaven and the new earth. This should be an extremely comforting thought for parents who have lost children at an early stage of life.

All persons who died as adults who have not reached their chronologically physical age of perfection will either continue to grow and mature or revert back to their chronologically physical age of perfection. If you, for example, died as a teenager, you would continue to grow, or if you are older, you will revert back.

The idea of children continuing to grow in Heaven and the new earth fits well with the broader biblical themes of restoration and fulfillment. In Scripture, God's kingdom is often portrayed as a place of flourishing, growth, and the renewal of all things, rather than stagnation or a static existence. This perspective emphasizes that the life to come in God's presence is dynamic and relational, where what was broken in this life is healed, and what was lost or missed is restored.

In particular, this view aligns with the Bible verse, “5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” (Revelation 21:5 [NIV*]). This suggests that Heaven and the New Earth will be a place where potential continues to unfold and where individuals—whether children or adults—can experience deeper fulfillment, relational restoration, and growth.

The notion that children would grow in Heaven and the New Earth also speaks to God’s redemptive work, which goes beyond merely restoring us to a prior state but includes offering new experiences and opportunities for growth that reflect His grace and creativity. This resonates with the hope of a restored creation where life flourishes in its fullness.

The beautiful perspective on what life in Heaven and the New Earth will be like, emphasizes the childlike qualities that Jesus valued—curiosity, joy, and innocence—as key aspects of our eternal experience. These traits reflect the purity and freedom that come from being fully restored in a world without sin or the burdens that weigh us down in this life.

While we may retain adult appearances, our hearts, and spirits could be marked by the wonder and lightness of children, living in a harmonious and renewed creation. The image of eternity where childlike wonder meets mature understanding paints a picture of deep fulfillment and peace, aligning with the idea of eternal joy in God's presence.

These reflections encapsulate the hope and mystery of what awaits believers in Heaven and the New Earth. The emphasis on perfection, joy, and vitality, as well as the idea that relationships will be transformed and deepened by the fullness of God's love, is comforting and reassuring peace. It acknowledges our wonderment of the unknowns while focusing on the promises of Scripture about the beauty and completeness of eternal life in God's presence.
